AMC released a sneak peek teaser of Season 7 during  their NYCC panel that erupted The Walking Dead fandom into chaos. Did AMC just show us who met the fatal blows of Lucille? Or could the show producers be playing with our emotions just before the October 23rd debut? Either way looks like our fearless leader, Rick Grimes, will have more than just the loss of a member of his group to deal with. 

“Not today, not tomorrow, but I’m gonna kill you,” the shaken vows of Rick Grimes to Negan shortly after one of his group members is killed off. Negan is amused by his words and asks what Rick was carrying on him before being captured. “A hatchet?” Negan once again amused by the weapon of choice of our leader. Negan tucks the hatchet into his belt just before carrying Rick away to the RV. If you are fans of the comics you know what is about to happen. For those who are not SPOILER ALERT!

Fans of the graphic novels know what lies ahead for certain characters. However, AMC and the producers of the show have been known to change up storylines like character deaths portrayed in the graphic novels vs. the television adaptation. Rick Grimes is going to have a character arc that was seen earlier in the graphic novels.  Fans of the graphic novels saw Rick Grimes’s hand get chopped off by The Governor, and it looks like the same fate will happen on the show, but by Negan.

Other than the foreshadowing for Rick Grimes, we see what could be Negan’s victim in the trailer. Negan asks Rick if he whacked his right hand man to death. “Having one of those is important. I mean what do you have without them?” “Do you have one, maybe one of these fine people still breathing, or did I–”  These few lines brought us chills.  When we think of Rick’s right hand man we think of Daryl. Could it be Daryl? Seems like the fan favorite could have meet his fate as the camera goes out, and we see a blanket on the ground, the same blanket that covered Daryl in the season 6 finale. Another fan theory is that Daryl interfered with Negan’s selection causing two characters to lose their lives. One thing we can agree on for October 23rd is we will have that burning question finally answered.
