Top 5 Moments at SDCC 2015

There were so many highlights this year at Comic-Con: from tons of activities to breath taking costumes to amazing celebrity moment. Here are a five of my personal favorite moments from this years Comic-Con.

5.  I have to say some of the most fun I had was with the interactive experiences, such as the Game of Thrones experience: shooting a silly video, being made into a white walker, sitting on the Iron Throne, and sword fighting to get a pretty awesome portrait of yourself.  Pretending you’re scaling an icy wall with ice axes like Lara Croft in Rise of the Tomb Raider, and having it turned into a Gif was pretty awesome.  I can’t forget the Scream slow motion video that you can make totally serious, or absolutely ridiculous. And then there was the awesome Hunger Games experience, where I was able to make a  Mockingjay war paint picture. Participating in these sort of events make the crowds and long lines a lot more fun, and makes for a more memorable experience.

4. Another favorite memory of Comic-Con are the people who make Comic-Con what it is. The ones who want to enhance not only their time at Comic-Con but yours as well. These are the people who, not only enhance their time at Comic-Con, but yours as well.  These are the people who are so friendly it’s almost as if you’ve known them for years as you wait at 4am for the exhibit hall to open.  These are the same people who spend so much time, money, and energy on their costumes that it’s as if you are looking at an exact replica of the character they are portraying, and they stay in character and perform for our entertainment.  Cheers to you people.

3. Sherlock! Ok so Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman weren’t there, but Rupert Graves (DI Lestrade), Steven Moffat (Series Writer),  and Sue Vertue (Producer) were.  However,  there was a hilarious skit to say hello and sorry for not being there featuring Andrew Scott, Mark Gatiss and Benedict Cumberbatch. Watching this panel was amazing because you really could see that Sherlock Holmes was Steven Moffat. The man is hilarious and brilliant. Did I mention I got to shake his hand in the exhibit hall?

2. The  cast of The Originals autographs! Getting autographs is quite simply the luck of the draw at Comic-Con.  If you want autographs you need to camp out, and even so, camping doesn’t guarantee an autograph.  You pick one show that you want, . Unfortunately, if  it is a popular show you may not get the chance for an autograph at all because people pulled all the tickets for it. If the show you want has all the tickets drawn, you can either jump ship, or choose a different show. Now once you get to the front of the line is when the anxiety begins. Especially if you’re with your group of friends, and all want the same autographs for the same show. You reach into the basket with your show’s name on it, and pull out a ticket that says yes or no. See what I  mean about luck of the draw?

Fortune smiled on my group, and back to back we all picked yes tickets. When the time came we jumped into The Originals line, and one by one we briefly got to speak to the cast members. Phoebe Tonkin was stunning, Daniel Gillies was hilarious, and Joseph Morgan handsome as ever. My absolute favorite was Charles Michael Davis: He asked about my day, he looked me in the eyes, and thanked me for watching the show. He made it so much more personal when he really didn’t have to. So I really appreciated that.

1. Number one! I have to say I am the type of person who loves to see actors and actresses get excited about their fans. Like when Norman Reedus jumped up on the signing table at this year’s Comic-Con, and recorded the herd of The Walking Dead fans and then himself! That was a great moment, and also when Ian Somerhalder jumped on his signing table, and told the crowd of fans that The Vampire Diaries loves their fans, and wanted to hear that the fans loved them back. Amazing.

Now my absolute number one moment was when Robin Lord Taylor (who plays Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. Penguin from Gotham) remembered my cousins and I (granted we were in our Game of Thrones attire). Earlier in the day we saw Robin Lord Taylor arrive on his bug with the rest of the Gotham cast while we were waiting in line. We waved, and blew him kisses. Later that day, as we were walking around the exhibit hall, we saw the cast sitting for their signings, That’s when Mr. Taylor looked up, saw us again, gave us the best smile, blew kisses at us, and told us we looked amazing. I’m not one to get all crazy over celebrities,  but I can not deny I was a little starstruck.

San Diego Comic-Con international can be what ever you make it, it could be absolutely overwhelming, or outrageously fun. You decide.  For me, I chose fun.
