The Walking Dead Mid-Season Finale: “Alexandria Falls”
Lines drawn between Carol and Morgan. A horde takes over as Alexandria falls and leaves everyone in danger. Who made it through the Mid-Season finale? And morn those that have fallen.
The Mid-Season was not for the faint of heart. Season 6 has been packed with non-stop action, and beautifully written backstories to newly introduced and re-introduced character. Quick to pick up where the previous episode had left off, the group has to quickly find safe refuge as the horde descends upon the once utopia of Alexandria.
Fans were at the edge of their seats as they watched their favorites fight of the hordes, showing their will to survive. Hearts raced as a pregnant Maggie shoots away walkers, and struggles to keep out of harms way. She seeks refuge atop a platform only held up by the walls of Alexandria. With walkers down below her, she is left stranded from the group, and seen later by Glenn from a tree as he looks in on the walls of Alexandria. We are hoping that the two will be reunited soon once The Walking Dead returns February 16, 2016.
Another dynamic that we are looking forward to seeing once the The Walking Dead returns, is Morgan and Carol. The two share different ideals on how to handle survivors during the apocalyptic world. Carol kills to survive, while Morgan believes ‘All Life Is Precious.’ This leads them not seeing eye to eye on how to deal with The Wolf in Morgan’s basement. They physically fight one another and both coming short after being knocked out unconscious. This allows The Wolf to take Denise as prisoner and escape Alexandria [as we are to believe].
Will Carol and Morgan have a heart to heart after their scuffle? Highly unlikely, but hoping to see them talk out what happened. However looks like Morgan will have to rethink his philosophy on life and survivor, knowing that there is a greater evil on the horizon [Negan].
The remaining Alexandria survivors and Grimes’s group fight off walkers and seek shelter. Sadly we learn that Deanna [Alexandria fearless leader] was bitten while trying to escape. Fans were treated to heart felt moments shared with Rick and Michonne, leading to some favorite lines.
“They are ALL your people” -Deanna to Rick Grimes. “Figure it out, Give’em Hell.” Deanna’s final words to Michonne.
This episode was filled with odes, one throwback to Season 1, in which Rick and Glenn cover themselves with walkers blood and guts to mask their scent. This time Grimes and the his growing group cover themselves up to distract their scent from the horde of walkers making home in Alexandria. Looks like the plan is working until Sam calls out for his Mom that is with him. Viewers begin to see the walkers reacting to the noise and then cue mid-season finale cliff hanger.
Notable Moments:
- Carl and Ron fight in the garage, after Ron pulls a gun on Carl. Even though Carl handled the incident on his own. Will this resurface?
- Sam and his lack of adaptation to the apocalyptic world he lives in now. Drawing himself roped to a tree with walkers around him and the symbolically eaten half-cookie that was given to him by Carol.
