The Walking Dead 6×07 Recap: Glenn’s Fate Revealed
Viewers learn the fate of Glenn, the looming threat of the horde of walkers at the wall, and tensions run high in Alexandria .
The episode kicked off with the reveal of Glenn’s fate. Just as some die-hard fans had hoped, Glenn survived the fated fall into a horde of walkers [after Nicholas shot himself].Glenn was wedged under Nicolas dead corpse causing him to witness the shredding of body parts and blood to come over him before being attacked himself. Using his survival skills. He shimmed himself under the dumpster and stabbed walkers that came at him with deadly force. Leaving their decomposed bodies as a barricade.
Glenn stayed under the dumpster over night and gets some assistance from unlikely ally, Enid. We see cans being used as a distraction for the walkers and once Glenn was free and clear. He crawls out to safety and sees Enid atop a roof, she offers him water and throws it down. Glenn unable to catch the water, sees his resource explode on impact and goes to waste. Enid offers him another bottle that is in the abandoned building that she used for refugee when she fled from Alexandria.
Through-out the episode we see the two of them struggle with helping another or allowing them to part ways. Enid exercises her rebellious ways [like most teenagers her age], and pulls Glenn’s own gun on him, after he tried the ploy “That this [keeping her safe] is what Maggie would have done.” Eventually, Enid agrees to help Glenn return to Alexandria and reveals minor details about what happened there.
Back at Alexandria, we see once again that Grimes’s group continues to struggle with the people of Alexandria, despite their efforts to teach them basic survivor skills. My second favorite line of the night was by Rosita, whom was giving a class on how to properly give a fatal blow with a blade threw the skull and to retrieve your weapon afterwards. Eugene has to be by far one of the most annoying characters in the series. He, once again showed his fear of dying, and the lack of courage to put his life before another’s when it came down to an attack by walkers.
“Dying is simple, the people around you dying is hard. You should be scared of living.” -Rosita
Meanwhile, Rick is working to fortify the wall, when Spencer decides to go on a self-thought mission. A mission that takes a turn for the worse as he is suspended above a horde of walkers and then set loose into the horde after the anchored hook give way. Tara goes to the rescue and shoots walkers that are coming after Spencer, while Rick and other members of Alexandria assist Spencer up the wall back into Alexandria. Tara needs help back up as well from Michonne, as she dangled off the side of the wall. Rick, in his anger at the stupidity of both Spencer and Tara, got a middle finger from Tara and a question by Spencer, “Would you have listened to me? [in regards to his plan to retrieve a car and distract the horde].”
The episode ends with the release of green balloons seen previously being carried by Enid with Glenn. Maggie spots the balloons first and elatedly runs to Rick, who also sees them along with everyone in Alexandria. “It’s Glenn.” Maggie simple says with a smile. The feeling of hope is quickly shattered by the bell tower crumbling over and taking down a section of the wall.
Things To Keep In Mind:
- Carol is suspicious of Morgan and follows him to the place where viewers know he is keeping one of the wolves members. Will this cause tension with Carol and Morgan? Will Morgan break his code to ‘All Life is Precious’?
- Ron trails behind Carl while walking around Alexandria with a loaded gun tucked away behind his back. Is he going to attempt to kill Carl?
- Sasha, Abraham and Daryl are on their way back. Will the Grimes’s group be finally reunited during the mid-season finale? Let’s hope so.
