The Walking Dead gave viewers a sense of closure as they follow Maggie and Sasha’s journey to Hilltop. Tonight’s episode hinted at major character arcs seen in the graphic novels that have us excited. Here are our highlights from tonight’s episode, “Go Getters.”

Hilltop
We learn that Maggie and Sasha made it safely back to Hilltop along with news that Maggie and Glenn’s unborn child is fine despite the fact that her placenta had separated from her uterus. Dr. Carson orders Maggie to stay at Hilltop until the birth of her baby. However, there is a bit of a hiccup with their extended stay at Hilltop with the cowardly leader, Gregory. Negan is still unaware of the deal made between Hilltop and Alexandria that ultimately killed at least a 100 of Negan’s men. Gregory is on edge knowing that Maggie and Sasha would be staying in Hilltop and could possibly reveal the alliance made.
Negan’s righthand man pays Hilltop a visit after the warning made the previous night which included a bolted up musical car running into Hilltop followed by walkers. Simon pulls Gregory into a private conference where he informs the Hilltop leader about the loss of the compound of Saviors which was the same compound that Gregory asked Rick and his people to get rid of. Simon senses the nerves in Gregory and ask, “anything that he should be aware of.” Gregory attempts to out Maggie and Sasha to Simon. However, Jesus had a little trick up his sleeve: when Gregory opens the closet, the confused Hilltop leader is left to scramble to reveal only a case of Scotch.
After Simon and his men leave Hilltop with half of their belongings. Jesus draws out Sasha and Maggie from Gregory’s closet. The ladies and Jesus are unamused by Gregory’s antics. This leads to one of the best lines this season when Maggie asserts her authority to Gregory: “You’re going to learn my name. I’m not Marsha, not dear, not honey–Maggie, Maggie Rhee.”
Jesus takes note of this interaction and later hints to Hilltop needing a new leader. When Maggie asked who, he simply said “That will be talked about later.” Sasha looks at Maggie and then over to Jesus as he got the same impression. Fans of the graphic novel are aware of the arc the show is setting up and we can’t wait for Maggie to take over Hilltop!
Carl and Jesus
Jesus per Sasha’s request is tracking where exactly Negan’s compound is. This mission kept a secret from Maggie and members of Hilltop. However, looks like someone else had the same plan as Jesus is greeted by Carl in the back of the truck. What is Carl up to? He can’t take on Negan and his men alone. So will he play Negan by having the man think he wants to be a Savior. This would follow the graphic novels in a way and if these two pair up in the show. The season is about to get a whole lot more interesting. With Jesus learning about Negan’s compound we believe that this will only form more of an alliance between Hilltop, Alexandria and The Kingdom. We are excited as the show is looking to head in that direction after episodes focused on the individual towns that are all under control by Negan and their dynamics.
Other Favorite Moments
- Remembering Glenn and Abraham, the two are laid two are rest at Hilltop. Where Sasha, Maggie, Jesus and Enid pay their respects in their own way. Enid placing balloons on Glenn’s grave (well Abraham’s grave). Maggie brings the pocket watch her father gave Glenn to be placed at his grave, but entrusts the trinket to Enid. She claims that they don’t need items to remind them of Glenn and Abraham. They will carry the memories of Glenn and Abraham through others.
- Carl and Enid share their first kiss. Despite the awkwardly placed roller skate scene, these two share some cute moments. Something that was a bit of a through back to the graphic novels which I have you missing Carl and Sophia.
