Teen Wolf 6×04: Something Left Behind

The final season of Teen Wolf is here.  Rather than doing recaps of episodes this season, we will be pointing out some key moments and predictions. So join us as we work to try to remember with episode 4 “Relics.”

The Relic

Just as the title of the episode, Lydia Martin discovered that The Ghost Riders had left things behind and that the people they had taken left relics. The clearly unspoken dialogue between Lydia and Hayden about Gwen’s sister leaving behind a bracelet places Lydia in detective mode.  She searches out the relic that Stiles left behind.

Her search leads her to Noah Silinksi (Sheriff Stilinski) where he tells her the story about the night he had where he had tripped over a baseball bat and shouted a name without thought, “Stiles.” Noah agrees to have Lydia take a look at his home to find the relic left behind.

With Claudia home, Lydia starts to look for clues or items. She is quickly stopped by another ghostly like figure in the hallway, the same hallway that she had seen the old woman. “It’s right in front of you!” The ghostly guy shouted to Lydia, leading her focus back to the wall with the lifted seam of wallpaper. Lydia begins to pull away the wallpaper when she is stopped by Claudia.

Lydia exclaims to Claudia that her grip is hurting her in which Claudia lets her go. Lydia is confused by their encounter and can’t let go that there is something off about Claudia. She discovers, with the help of Melissa McCall, that on Claudia’s medical history she is diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (that should have killed her a long time ago). This confirms that Claudia is not really Claudia so to speak because you can’t erase a child from a medical log without erasing that important detail.

Another confusing part of the episode was the discovery of the Stiles’s relic: Roscoe the Jeep. According to Gwen, she discovered her sister’s bracelet a few days after being taken by The Wild Hunt. So how was Lydia able to be in the Jeep for a period of time? What happened after she got out? Did the Jeep disappear? Also if it appeared in the parking lot why didn’t they discover it earlier? So many questions we hope will be answered in the next episode.

Malia Tate

Malia is losing control with every episode showing just how lost she is without her anchor. She is shot by Chris Argent, who was with Melissa McCall, in the woods during a hunt for the not so illusive killer (Garrett Douglas). Chris explains that Malia has given into the bloodlust and would have killed them. Being a werecoyote her attraction to blood drives her crazy.  Being drawn by the werewolf’s kills, Malia had lost all control.

However, once she is patched up by Melissa and Chris, she finds herself back in the role of an un-willing protector. Malia assists Scott and Chris Argent to protect all the students from the party in which a Ghost Rider visibly appeared, no thanks to Corey. Malia is a terrible baby sitter to, lets face it, not worth saving and practically useless characters. Both her and Chris fail to save the fated students. Malia is quick to give up on Stiles, and decides that saving others and fighting the Ghost Riders is more important. However, we get the feeling that if she doesn’t find her anchor soon she may end  up being locked away in Eichen House.

The 2.0 Pack

This season has been focused heavily on the 2.0 pack (Liam, Hayden, Mason and Corey), with the idea that Scott’s Pack (Scott, Stiles, Lydia and Malia) is graduating and moving on in the final season. Rumors are swirling that MTV could be capitalizing on the shows popularity and possibly doing a spin off on the 2.0 pack. With that being said, there is clear push to make Liam the new ‘Alpha’ and with the passing down of the team captain to Liam in this episode. Seems as though Hayden, Corey and Mason have given their allegiance to Liam and are willing to follow his plan to catch themselves a Ghost Rider.

Scott is clearly left out of the loop with the 2.0 pack, which is a little concerning. Scott is Mr. Teen Wolf and Liam is his beta. There should be one pack and in the end Scott can turn the role of leader to Liam as the True Alpha parts his ways with Beacon Hills High School. Being that this is the last season, the focus should be more on the core cast as this is the last time we will see them. Nevertheless, looks the like the 2.0 pack has their own “wild hunt” on their hands.
