Siren 1×05: “Showdown”
Chris informs Ben about Decker and his role with the government agency that is responsible for the capture of Ryn’s sister, Donna. He warns Ben that Decker’s presence in Bristol Cove is because of a mermaid (Donna). Ben and Maddie are on the search to find any leads or clues about Decker and discover a link. Ben knows they need to stop Decker at all cost stating that Decker “will not stop until he finds her (Donna).”
Ben pieces the connection of a Siren’s song when Chris tells him that he heard a song that lured Decker. Ben tells Maddie that Ryn sang to him before, believing at first that the song was a defense mechanism. However, he is not sure anymore as the Siren’s song felt more like a drug. He felt entranced by the song and could not shake the melody out of his head. Ben knew that if he could speak to Decker he would find answers and form an understanding with the scientist.
While at a family charity event, Ben is introduced to Decker by his mother, Elaine. Ben uses the time to bring up the Siren song as leverage to persuade Decker into ceasing the hunt for Donna. Decker divulges about the government plan, which is to starve the Sirens to surface and lure them into captivity. They will do so that night as they will harvest more Sirens.
Maddie and Ben warn the Sirens of Decker and to stay out of the ocean. However, the Sirens decide to take things into their own hands. They lure Decker into the woods with their Siren song in hopes to kill him. However, Ben intervenes as he is lured into the woods and pleads with Ryn to spare Decker. Donna, after failing to kill Decker, makes a pledge to kill all on land and water. Ryn does not agree with her sister’s ideals to kill everyone and the sister’s go their separate ways.
Notable Moments
- Ryn has childlike tendencies while adjusting to her life on land. She mimics the kiss and “I love yous” that Maddie and Ben share herself. This sparks an interesting moment between the three of them as Maddie shares with Ben that she was kissed the other night by Ryn. Therefore the innocent kisses shares, at this time, are simply “innocent.”
