After Clary’s kiss with Jace, Simon is left heartbroken and angry. Leading him on a wild night out of bloodlust. Magnus deals with his past demons, Clary tries to mend her broken relationship with Simons and we learn just who Sebastian really is. Here are my thoughts about episode 15, “A Problem of Memory.” 

Vampire Blues

Poor Simon, everyone’s favorite vampire cannot handle the heartbreak in the aftermath of witnessing the kiss between Clary and Jace. Simon may come of a little goofy and naive at times, but he understands that Clary will never love him with the same passion that she loves Jace. Something truly heartbreaking as we have all been there before once in our life.

Mixing human emotions and vampire abilities can prove to be a lethal mixture. He finds himself wallowing in the local supernatural pub bar when he has a run in with another vampire. That offers him a shot of plasma to help with his pain. That later leads him to an underground vampire club equipped with mundanes willing to offer a bite.

Simon indulges himself with a certain mundane that later is found dead. Unaware about what happened the night before (thanks to a vampire hangover), Simon becomes paranoid that he may have killed the mundane. He searches for clues and thanks to some information on the death. He realizes that he did not kill the mundane and searches for the vampire at fault. Killing him during a stake out battle to the death.

Who Are You?

We finally learn who was being kept captive by “Sebastian” from last episode, Sebastian. Yes, that’s correct the real Sebastian was being held captive by the impersonating “Sebastian”. Learning quickly that the “Sebastian” impersonator is fooling not only the New York Institute, but long time friend of Lightwoods and cousin to the real Sebastian, Aline.

After Sebastian escapes his impersonators apartment, he goes to warn Aline of the impending threat and the fake “Sebastian.” However he is killed by “Sebastian” just before he can give the message of warning. Later while Valentine is on the road to Idris, another shadowhunter re-directs Valentine’s drop off to Sebastian. Once Sebastian and Valentine are united, Sebastian introduces himself as Valentine’s son.

Notable Moments 

• Magnus divulges a dark secret to his boyfriend, Alec Lightwood about the moment he relived when trapped in Valentine’s body and tortured with the agony rune. The dark secret coming from the death of his mother. His father blamed Magnus for her death. Claiming that she committed suicide because she, “hated herself for giving birth to a monster.” In anger Magnus ignited his father in flames by accident and blames himself for his father’s death. Alec assures Magnus that he is not a monster and that he loves him.
