Limitless is a CBS crime drama show based off of the movie Limitless. It actually takes place following the events of the movie. Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) is pushing 30 and hasn’t done much with his life. He watched his family grow, and have families of their own while he was stuck in the dream of being a successful musician. His father becomes seriously ill, and doctors can’t figure out why. He starts working a temp job, and runs into an old friend who introduces him to NZT (a drug that gives you access to every neuron in your brain for 12 hours). He begins to recall every single thing he has seen, read, and heard. After taking the pill he discovers what his father is suffering from. He goes to see his friend that had given him the drug only to discover him shot to death. This is where we meet FBI Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter). After a fun chase scene, Rebecca stops him at the subway, only to recognize something within him, and he makes his exciting escape.
By the next day the NZT is wearing off and Brian is feeling the horrible side effects; he goes in search for more only to come face to face with the one who murdered his friend and gets shot himself. After a call to Rebecca for help to stitch his leg, he passes out from the pain. He wakes to find himself patched up and face to face with Senator Eddie Morra, who explains the side effects of NZT, and tells him that he has a drug to counter act those side effects. He was told he can take it only if he swears that he will not tell the police.
After he is given the drug he seeks Rebecca to help prove his innocence over his murdered friend. After a series of clever events he is successful in proving his innocence, and helps the FBI find the murderer. The FBI is eager to find out who made NZT, and how to counter the side effects. Rebecca convinces them to hire Brian as a consultant. Brian accepts if they first help his father. He learns that Rebecca believes she lost a loved one to the drug, and is determined to find the person responsible for making this drug so she can bring them to justice.
Limitless is a clever and exciting show that keeps the mind and audience entertained throughout. The talented actors and actresses keep you interested in the story making it more believable, and the clever camera angles and visual effects pull you in. It also leaves you wondering, if this drug were real would you take it? Even if you knew what the side effects were? And if there were a drug to help counter the side effects, would you still take it knowing that you would never be yourself again?
