iZombie Episode 4 Recap: “Even Cowgirls Get the Black and Blues”
Liv goes to see Peyton at her dance class and they reconcile. Peyton says she also has some zombie questions when they get together later. Both Liv and Ravi meet Clive at the murder site. The victim is Lacy Cantrell, a waitress at The Slow Roll. Liv finds letters in a guitar case to a man named Matt Sudak, but they were all sent back unopened.
Clive got more information on the letters at that Matt was a boyfriend of hers. They broke up while he was locked up in the joint. One of the letters she had written explained she knew she had to let him go, and that when he got out to forget about her and to not do anything crazy. Matt was doing 15 months for aggravated assaults so they believe it would be motive, and they go to investigate him.
Ravi is hanging out with Steph again, and they are interrupted when Peyton walks in. She tells him that Major gave her permission to crash there until her new place was ready.
Liv and Clive go to the bar where Lacy worked to talk to the manager. Clive asks if there were any arguments she had with anyone, and if she was acting strangely. He tells them she had asked him for an advance on her pay check. While they are on the way out one of the customer gives them information that Rick, the manager, and Lacy were yelling at one another.
Liv has a vision of Lacy where Rick is trying to hump her and offered her cash advanced in return for sex, but she elbowed him straight in the gut. Blaine gets news that Gabriel is the guy who cut the Utopium, and where to find him. He ends up finding him at a Church, and tries to get him to give up the formula.
Rick goes down to the police station to talk about the incident saying that he left out the fact that Lacy dumped coffee on him. He lies, but Liv interferes by telling him exactly what he did and in front of his wife sitting next to him. Upset, she reveals that she lied about being his alibi, and she has no idea where he was that night as he didn’t come home until midnight.
Clive calls Liv and leaves a message that he cut Rick loose as his wife lied about everything. However Lacy’s ex, Matt, alibi fell through as the guy that was vouching for him ended up having a speeding ticket that night. Matt compliments her on her song when she is in the parking lot. Liv then goes to pay Major a visit, and tries to express that she is finally going to let him go, but he acts short with her. She resumes trying to talk to him, but again he acts cold with her so she just walks out.
Blaine checks in with Gabriel to see if he is willing to reveal the recipe for the formula yet and when he disagrees, Blaine has one of his minions scratch Gabriel. Peyton is talking and interviewing yet another dealer who worked for Boss. The guy ends up being Blaine tells her that he will give her information on Stacey Boss in return he would like immunity to the crimes he is going to admit to.
Liv and Peyton are finally catching up over drinking wine and eating takeout dinner.
Gabriel, now a zombie, is given one last chance to tell Blaine the formula, but he refuses yet again so they kick him out. He is freshly turned, and hungry.
Major comes home to find Ravi with their new dog, Minor who had gotten out. He is angry at Major as he has been acting different and for inviting his ex to stay with them. Major then goes to score more Utopium and gets it free as the guy recognizes Major from Helton Shelter. He finds it amusing.
Lacy’s killer is revealed to be the same guy that did the robbery at Sack & Pack. She was just unlucky as he heard police choppers and he went into the first unlocked house he could find. He panicked when she discovered him. Clive has him write a confession so it could give her family closure. Liv is surprised to Major knocking on her door. He tells her that he needs help and they share a long embrace and then begin kissing one another passionately.
