E3 2018: My Top 5 Games
E3 has come and gone, but gamers around the world are excited for what is in store in the next couple years. Here are my top five games from E3 2018 I am excited to see!
Ghost of Tsushima
Platform: Playstation 4
This game was showcased at the Sony conference and wow did this one really capture my attention. Created by Sucker Punch Productions (Infamous series), Ghost of Tsushima takes place in 1274 feudal Japan during the first Mongol invasion. Players play as Jin Sakai, the last Samurai on the island of Tsushima, who is fighting back the Mongols. This game will be an action rpg with stealth elements and an open world. Fans will also get to have the Japanese audio with english subtitles which will be nice. My first impression of this game is that the graphics are insanely beautiful in this. The way the leaves and the scenery moved and the beautiful music in the background is so nicely done. The fight scene in the red leaves and the sunset is superb. I also liked that this did seem to be more of a Samurai story and not Samurai story filled with supernatural elements. The fighting seemed fluid and fun to play. I’m really excited to see more of this game!
Release Date: To be determined
Cyberpunk 2077
Platforms: XBox One, Playstation 4, Microsoft Windows
Cyberpunk 2077 was showcased in the Microsoft conference and it was one of the biggest highlights of E3. Created by CD Projekt Red , who created the Witcher 3, fans have been salivating for a glimpse for this new game ever since they dropped a teaser trailer five years ago. Now the years of wait are over and fans are much closer to actually being able to play this game. The games is going to be a first person role playing game, which will definitely be interesting to get to play. Fans get to play as V, a mercenary, who has to navigate the dangerous world of Night City, California. This trailer had me sold because it reminded me of Blade Runner and Fifth Element if they had a baby with Grand Theft Auto. Now I love Fifth Element and Blade Runner and the trailer looked cool and intriguing. CD Projekt Red really blew everyone away with the Witcher 3. So this game is definitely going in my games to watch out for in, hopefully, the near future.
Release Date: Still to be determined
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Platforms: Playstation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One
This game was showcased in Sony’s conference, and boy did this gameplay video have me on the edge of my seat. I do like my fair share of zombie apocalypse and I did really like the resident evil series. I will admit that I have not played the original series, but this gameplay trailer really piqued my interest in this series. I liked the graphics in this and the dark, terrifying tones in this trailer. It looks like it focuses on the characters and what looks like the initial outbreak. It looks exciting and terrifying to play. The action and the camera angles and cinematography looks on point and excellent. This definitely looks like a really good remake. I can’t wait to play as Leon Kennedy.
Release Date: January 25, 2019
Last of Us 2
Platforms: Playstation 4
I remember playing the heartbreaking opening sequence of The Last of Us. I’ve still yet to get the game, but it is high on my list of games I want to play because of that opening sequence and how many people rave about that game. This piqued my interest in watching the Last of Us 2, and I was not disappointed. I was extremely impressed with the graphics and how they are focusing on the survivors in this. I liked the ease of movement and how crisp the game play looks. If the story has the potential of being as good as the first one, I’m in. This is definitely a game that is on my look out for list!
Release Date: Still to be determined
Death Stranding
Platform: Playstation 4
This strange and beautiful game was showcased in Sony’s conference and I was immediately pulled in by the stunning graphics with this as well as the motion capture graphics of Norman Reedus. I am a huge Norman Reedus fan (all the way back from Boondock Saints), and I was intrigued by this trailer. This game not only looked stunning, but looked like it was going to be cerebral and intriguing in its concepts. Headed by Hideo Kojima (known for the Metal Gear Solid series), this game definitely looks unique and different than what is typically seen. It will also host a cast of well known actors (Norman Reedus, Mads Mikaelssen, Lindsey Wagner, Lea Seydoux) all of whose performances will be captured by motion capture for the game. By watching the trailer, I really wanted to know more about this world and what happened in it. I definitely want to play this game.

Honorable Mentions:
It was really hard picking just these five games, so I have a few honorable mentions as well.
Devil May Cry 5
I remember playing the original Devil May Cry, and boy was it hard. I absolutely loved Dante in the original. I can definitely see the sarcastic nature of Devil May Cry in the new game, but Dante just doesn’t quite make it for me. Still the game did look interesting and fun.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Lara Croft’s adventures have always been really fun and adventurous. I really like the idea of the game concept in this one and the game play looks really fun. And I’ve always been intrigued with Mayan culture and the game looks like it could be a lot of fun.
Fallout 76
The graphics in this was really amazing. I was really impressed with this game. I have never played any of the Fallout series, but this, I think, I could get into as it seems to take place just after the initial time period after the bombs fell. It looks really good, but it will be a multiplayer game. This could be an interesting experience, but I am more of a single player gamer. Maybe I will consider working as a team in this game.
Those are my choices for intriguing games that caught my attention from E3 2018. There were so many choices to pick from. I do hope that next year we will see an announcement for the Final Fantasy 7 remake which is what I really want to see, but I guess I will have to see next year.
