Cosplay Friday Highlight: Game of Thrones Edition
Here at BGeekyblog, we have grown to appreciate the community of cosplay. There is something special about the cosplaying community that deserves more recognition for their craft. Countless hours and hard-work go into the details of bringing to life beloved characters. Your gender, physical appearance or age should never hinder you from your passion to cosplay. Cosplay is for everyone. With that ideal, we are excited to expand out highlights to the cosplay community.
We at bgeekyblog recently went to San Diego Comic Con 2016, and we came across some really awesome cosplay, but none stood out as much as this week’s cosplayer highlight. In fact, we almost had to do a double take when we first saw this cosplayer in his portrayal of Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. So enjoy our first Game of Thrones cosplayer, known for his impeccable Jon Snow, Zak McIntosh.
1.) What sparked your interest in cosplay?
My friends inspired me to start cosplaying! Originally it had just been a joke about how much I look like the actor who plays Jon Snow.
2.) What has been your favorite character to cosplay?
Jon Snow is my only cosplay, but I’ve picked up other costumes for the character. Right now (between Night’s Watch and Stark armor) I really have been enjoying the Stark armor simply because its a change.
3.) What would be your dream cosplay?
Fully armored ready for battle Jon Snow. The battle of the bastards is my favorite episode.
4.) What has been the most difficult cosplay for you and why?
Surprisingly, I haven’t had much difficulty with cosplay at all. The only slight difficulty is ordering a costume and it comes out too large/small.
5.) Since you are known for your Jon Snow cosplay, what about his character do you relate to?
Through watching the show, I’ll be honest I didnt know what to think of Jon’s character at first. As the show progressed I began to really admire his maturation into something great. I’m at a time in my life where I’m learning how to be an adult (I’m 22), and Jon’s character kinda gives me inspiration to grow and mature.
6.) If you could reenact any scene, be it from Game of Thrones or anything else, what would it be?
Season 6, episode 9.
7.) Other than Jon Snow, if you could hang out with any character (from any form of media be it television, movies, books, games, etc), who would it be?
Probably Rick Grimes from the Walking Dead considering how much he would question me. It would be pretty cool. I could use some tips on how to survive in that world.
8.) What advice would you give to those who are starting out in cosplay?
Cosplay for you. Pick a character (or create one) and just go for it. Take your time, whether it be building your cosplay from the ground up or piecing it together. And always remember to have fun with it!
