Here at Bgeekyblog we have grown to appreciate the community of cosplay. There is something special about the cosplaying community that deserves more recognition for their craft. Countless hours and hard work go into the details of bringing to life beloved characters. Your gender, physical appearance or age should never hinder you from your passion to cosplay. Cosplay is for everyone.  With that ideal, we are excited to expand out highlights to the cosplay community.   We are pleased to highlight Kotin_Jony. 

1.) What sparked your interest in cosplay?

One day a friend asked me to cosplay Equius from Homestruck.  I made it and I liked it so I decided to continue.

2.) What has been your favorite character to cosplay?

My favorite characters are Gray Fullbuster, Kagami Taiga, and Spiderman.

3.) What would be your dream cosplay?

My dream cosplay is to make Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII.

4.) What has been the most difficult cosplay for you and why?

In the beginning, it was hard to sew and put on wigs as there was no experience in this.  Right now there are problems with the crafting of the image and developing the ability to make more quality craft.

5.) If you could reenact any scene in cosplay from any fandom, what would it be?

I would like to reenact Tyki Mikk’s battle in D Gray Man.  Fights with his participation are always spectacular and I may be able to do something similar.  Also, in the near future, I will assemble a project for the Spider-verse.

6.) You cosplay a lot of different fandoms.  Which character (if any) would you say you relate to the most and why?

I’d say that the closest character I relate to is Kagami Taiga and other characters from Kuroko no Basuke.  There are a lot of similarities between my character and the nature of the fendoma.  The nearest characteristic that is like me is the zeal to win.

7.) If you could hang out with any character from any fandom, which character would you like to hang out with and why?

I would be very happy to meet Shinichi from the anime Parasite: The Doctrine of Life.  It is a very touching story and the atmosphere is not transmitted.  And if I had a choice I would like a parasite living in my leg.

8.) You have some really spectacular cosplay photoshoots like the History of Drunken Fools and the Shaman King shoots.  How much time and preparation does it take for one of your photoshoots?  Is there any photoshoot that has been your favorite?

On average, preparations for each photoset takes three weeks, and the process of photography about four hours.  Of course, it takes longer to prepare the complex elements of the costume and the background.

9.) You frequent quite a few conventions in cosplay.  What has been your most memorable convention moment?

Just recently, in Comic Con 2016, I participated in the public presentation of the comic Spider-verse, which was fully translated into Russian and one volume was printed.  The presentation was attended by Chip Zdarsky, and he even gave me a hug!

10.) What advice would you give to people who are just starting out or getting back into cosplay?

I would advise people not to rush, and to do their work efficiently.  Also, it would be nice to choose characters that are more rarely encountered like Miky from vocaloids.  In general, I advise beginners to focus on quality rather than quantity.
