Here at Bgeekyblog we have grown to appreciate the community of cosplay. There is something special about the cosplaying community that deserves more recognition for their craft. Countless hours and hard work go into the details of bringing to life beloved characters. Your gender, physical appearance or age should never hinder you from your passion to cosplay. Cosplay is for everyone.  With that ideal, we are excited to expand our highlights to the cosplay community.  We are pleased to highlight the amazing Nightglow Cosplay!

1.) What sparked your interest in cosplay?

Well it started years ago around when I was like 14.  I had a couple otaku friends that cosplayed, and it seemed so cool and fun.  But I was always so afraid of being judged for doing it so I didn’t cosplay till I was about 18 and I said screw it I don’t give a crap what people think and so I went to 2013 supercon and cosplayer as Gray Fullbuster. And I had such a blast that I was sold from there and really got into cosplay after that.

2.) What has been your favorite character to cosplay?

By far my favorite cosplay is Ulquiorra from Bleach for many reasons. Ulquiorra has always been my favorite anime character of all time, and to top it off once I cosplayed as him it turned out to be a huge fan fave, and also I always loved the way I’m able to transform to look like someone that looks nothing like I really do. Now granted he is a very tough and pain in the butt to do, but I love that cosplay none the less.

3.) What would be your dream cosplay?

That’s tough cause to be honest Ulquiorra has always been that dream cosplay of mine, but besides him…. it may sound weird, but I would love to cosplay my own character from Final Fantasy 14 or a character from Monster Hunter.

4.) What has been the most difficult cosplay for you and why?

That would be between two different cosplays and for different reasons. 1. Would be Susanoo from Akame Ga Kill because that ring on his back was very difficult to make because I wanted it to be made from wood and sturdy and because of that I never succeeded in finding a way to mount it on my back.  One day I will though.

And 2) again Ulquiorra cause what people don’t know is that it takes me about 4hrs to do all that makeup. I usually wake up and start around 8am on a con day, and won’t be done until around noon and with all the white paint.  It takes 4 layers to become smooth and the black makeup can’t smear.

5.) If you could reenact any scene in cosplay from any fandom, what would it be?

Well as a martial artist I’d love to reenact a scene from a martial arts anime like Tenjho Tenge, like the fight between Souichiro and Masataka, or the scene between Dante and lady from Devil May Cry 3, both having unrealistic movements, but it would be fun to reenact none the less.

6.) You cosplay a lot of different fandoms.  Which character (if any) would you say you relate to the most and why?

Oh man that’s actually really difficult cause my personality is really a mix between three of my cosplays: 1. Dante cause I’m usually really sarcastic in a joking way the same way Dante is 2. Ulquiorra cause when I’m around strangers or at home I’m usually pretty by myself and emotionless lol and 3. Gray cause me and clothing aren’t best of friends haha.

7.) If you could hang out with any character from any fandom, which character would you like to hang out with and why?

Either Ulquiorra or Dante hands down. I feel like I’d have a blast hanging with Dante and lots of laughs, but I’m such a massive Ulquiorra fanboy I couldn’t pass up that opportunity.

8.) You’ve been to a few conventions in cosplay.  What has been your most memorable convention moment?

There have obviously been a lot and it’s hard to choose, but I have to say when I met Leon chiro because how we met was very interesting to say the least.  What happened was I was cosplaying Wakka with also my girlfriend being Lulu and we ran into another Lulu cosplayer and so we wanted to take a pic.  So I handed my camera to this Leon Kennedy cosplayer, and asked if he could take a pic….

Later that day out of cosplay I was dancing around in the halls and this guy comes up and records me and says: hey dude you’re awesome and got great moves, I recorded you to my Instagram story, so I get the notification and immediately realize that guy and the Leon Kennedy from before were both Leon chiro to my shock. So I immediately ran after him and got to meet and chill with him for a good long while.

9.) What advice would you give to people who are just starting out or getting back into cosplay?

First advice is don’t be afraid to cosplay and don’t limit yourself thinking you could never make amazing art.  If you wanna learn to make amazing things simply ask people that all have different skills and work hard at it.  If you work hard and try, you can do any character you could ever want.

10.) You cosplay Ulqiuorra Cifer, a complex and fan favorite character, from Bleach quite a bit.  If you could ask him any question in the world what would it be?

Haha I would naturally wanna ask him to kill Ichigo again haha, but in reality I’ve always wanted to know, since his final form was a secret from everyone, if he made it known, what rank would he really be?

11.) You are a martial artist.  What martial art(s) do you practice and what character would you train with if you could, and why?

I’ve done many martial arts over the many years like Muay Thai, thai kwon do, judo, jiu jitsu, and even a little wing chun. But I’ve mainly focused on my love towards judo. And I’d hands down wanna train with the blind judo master Akisame from the anime Kenichi because when do you ever see a judo master in an anime?
