Here at Bgeekyblog we have grown to appreciate the community of cosplay. There is something special about the cosplaying community that deserves more recognition for their craft. Countless hours and hard work go into the details of bringing to life beloved characters. Your gender, physical appearance or age should never hinder you from your passion to cosplay. Cosplay is for everyone.  With that ideal, we are excited to expand our highlights to the cosplay community. We are excited to highlight maid_ofvoid!

1.) What sparked your interest in cosplay?

Middle school was my first time cosplaying, but I remember my first time at NYCC (my first con ever) in 2012 was when I first got exposed to it! Even before I was into anime, I loved comics and cartoons and seeing all those people dressed up as their favorite characters really inspired me!

2.) What has been your favorite character to cosplay?

My favorite character to cosplay has definitely been Credence Barebone from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! It’s one of my most recent cosplays, but quickly became a favorite.

3.) What would be your dream cosplay?

My dream cosplay is tied between Barbara Gorden’s Batgirl and Mercy from Overwatch!

4.) What has been the most difficult cosplay for you and why?

Marius Pontmercy from Les Miserables was my most difficult cosplay by far. It took forever to find everything for him…Especially the tailcoat. Never in my entire life would I have ever imagined I’d be looking up “muted brown tail coat” five-thousand times!!!! It drove me NUTS!

5.) If you could reenact any scene in cosplay from any fandom, what would it be?

The scene in X-Men apocalypse where Cyclops absolutely wrecks Xavior’s favorite tree. That scene makes me laugh every time. Don’t think I could ever do that realistically though…

6.) You cosplay a lot of different fandoms.  Which character (if any) would you say you relate to the most and why?

I don’t really think I particularly relate to any character I’ve cosplayed too much honestly. 😮

7.) If you could hang out with any character from any fandom, which character would you like to hang out with and why?

Honestly, I would love to chill with Peter Maximoff (Quicksilver). He’s kinda cocky and annoying, buuuut I think he would ultimately a fun guy to go on adventures with since he has a good sense of humor and good taste in music.

8.) You’ve been to a few conventions in cosplay.  What has been your most memorable convention moment?

Okay, I have two (if that’s okay). My first one is last year’s NYCC. I was with my X-men group (shoutout to all my pals!!) and we were posing for what seemed like forever for pictures! I remember standing in a pose for so long and everyone was just snapping away! It was a super cool moment for me and my friends.

My second moment was this year’s Katsucon! It was my first year of Katsucon and definitely it wont be my last! Walking into the lobby and seeing the convention scenery just blew me away and I will never forget the amount of excitement I felt when I first walked in.

9.) What advice would you give to people who are just starting out or getting back into cosplay?

I say…HAVE FUN AND MAKE A LOT OF FRIENDS!!!! Also, work hard and do not be afraid to make mistakes!!!!

10.) If you could create any character of your choice what would they be and what genre would they fit into?

Oh wow! I would probably create this badass post apocalyptic girl…obviously she would fit into the science fiction/ post apocalyptic genre! I love that kinda stuff so much!
