Cricket
We were pleased to see a familiar face return to American Horror Story in the form on psychic medium, Cricket (portrayed by Leslie Jordan). Cricket is a famous psychic, after finding a missing child in Utah, years after the child went missing. He quickly makes his presence known in The Miller home. Informing Lee that Flora is not dead, but with Priscilla (a ghost girl from the 1500s).
Cricket gets Lee and The Millers to join him in a seance in hopes to communicate with Priscilla. Instead he finds an unwelcome guest, The Butcher (Kathy Bates) who is less than thrilled by the trespassers on her land. Cricket fearing for his life and the others, yells out “Croaton!” Does this phrase sound familiar? It should! This phrase was said back in Season 1, to banish spirits. The scene can be seen bellow with Violet (Taissa Farmiga), Constance Langdon (Jessica Lange) and Billie Dean Howard (Sarah Paulson) talking about Murder House and the spirits that dwell within. Billie Dean Howard retells the story of The Roanoke Colony and their reign of terror. Linking Season 6 and Season 1 together.
Cricket after the seance ask Lee for $25,000 dollars for his assistance to find Flora. Lee and Matt Miller show Cricket the door, but Cricket has some parting words of his own. Saying, “Four year old Emily said hello. She is wondering why you stopped looking for her all those years ago?” Looks like Lee has a tragic past, one she does not want to repeat. Lee pays the $25,000 for Cricket’s help to get Flora back safely.
The Butcher and The Witch
We find out through the help of Cricket the story behind The Butcher, Thomasyn White (Kathy Bates). Who was banished by her colony into the wilderness only to be saved by a witch (Lady Gaga), for a payment of her soul. Thomasyn takes the witch’s offer and goes back to her colony to kill off the men that banished her and sparing her son Ambrose (John Lowe). Thomasyn than moves the Roanoke Colony inland to what is known to be the site of the farmhouse.
The Witch has her fun too when she enchants Matt Miller to her. Making love to him in the woods, only to have Shelby stumble upon them. Shelby clearly upset, retaliates against Matt by having Lee arrested for the murder of Mason (Lee’s husband). Was this the witch’s intent? Seems like the witch wants to feed of the weak in order to can their souls to do her bidding. Only time will tell what the witch is truly up to.
Episode Treats
- Evan Peters makes his first appearance…sorta. We hear Evan Peters behind the camera when real life Lee calls for the production to stop when Emily is brought up. Let’s hope we get to see Evan Peters make his true debut in Season 6.
