American Horror Story: Roanoke Nightmare is building up to what has to be the slowest twist in the series history. The main character of Matt and Shelby Miller are not captivating enough to keep our attention. Scene stealers and minor characters like Cricket and an Uber driver made last night’s episode remotely memorable. Here are my top moments from last night’s chapter of American Horror Story: Roanoke Nightmare.

Cricket

Yes, we have to talk about Cricket (Leslie Jordan) again, and his short lived run on the show. Cricket, by far, has been the most interesting character to make their way into the Roanoke Nightmare. From his bull haircut that would be a modern day no no to his antics, Cricket was a character we were hoping to see more of, but he was killed on the night of the Dying Grass Moon. The Dying Grass Moon is a six-day cycle between the first quarter moon to the blood moon “where the dead can slip the veil  between the shadow world and ours.” This is when the Butcher and the colony of Roanoke can cause physical harm to those who live on their land, binding them to live as wondering ghosts forever.

Unfortunately, this fate was sealed for Cricket despite his care for Flora and The Millers. Cricket had his guts literally ripped out in front of The Millers. He was the last hope for The Millers to make it out of the Roanoke Nightmare alive, or, in their case, was the brains they needed.

Priscilla 

We finally get to meet the ghost girl, Priscilla and her fate. She is the defiant member of The Roanoke Colony and the daughter of The Butcher (Kathy Bates) who was killed by her own mother as a sacrifice to dark druids. During the Dying Grass Moon, Priscilla is found by Dr. Cunningham and the Millers to be playing a game of tag with other fallen ghosts and Flora. The group of ghosts all seem to be sacrificial members that found their fate by the hand of The Butcher and The Druid. Priscilla seems to be the Casper of American Horror Story; she is the ghost that tried to protect Flora. However, Flora is captured by The Butcher and Priscilla is able to save Flora by pushing The Butcher before delivering a fatal blow to her friend.

The Druid

Cricket discovers that The Druid is “The bitch with the real power.” She is the master of the Roanoke Colony, and her power grows with each phase of the moon.  The Druid (Lady Gaga) casts another love spell on Matt Miller (Cuba Gooding Jr.) to collect Cricket’s offering of him to her. Matt, while in his entranced state, is able to see The Druid’s past where she is accused of witchcraft and is ordered to be burned at the stake. Having other plans, the Druid entrances her capturers and kills them all to please her gods. The Druid was cause of the massacre of the white soldiers.

Later, we discover the Druid’s true intent with Matt, and that was for him to join her, in which Matt seemed to oblige until the two were interrupted by the screams of Shelby.
