AHS 8×05 Breakdown: “Wizards Not Whizzes”
The battle for humanity has been declared and sides have been drawn. Now just who’s side will you take in this war between witches, warlocks and demons? Here are my thoughts about episode 5, “Boy Wonder.”
A New Supreme
This episode revolved around possible candidates to dethrone Cordelia Foxx as Supreme. Cordelia confides in Mrytle Snow that her powers are fading and that she will accept Grand Chancellor Ariel’s contender to participate in The Seven Wonders. Cordelia’s agreement comes after a vision of Miss Robichaux’s Academy in ruins. Her sister all dead and soon she too would die by the teeth of cannibal like zombies. Before she dies in her vision she sees the face of a white demon, Michael Langdon.
Even though Michael Langdon passed The Seven Wonders with ease he is not the obvious Supreme. Instead, I believe that the new Supreme will be Mallory as her lineage dates back to Salem and a possible to Scáthach (Lady Gaga’s character from AHS: Roanoke). Recalling the previous episode when Cordelia witnessed Mallory’s abilities her expression was worried. Then in this episode, Myrtle Snow informs Cordelia that Mallory has the ability to heal and correct wounds. Something that Mrytle had never witnessed a witch do before.
Honey, I’m Home
We not only get one but two homecomings this episode and both are bittersweet. Fans of AHS: Coven was happy to see Misty Day back from purgatory. As we know, Misty sadly met her demise after falling to return from Descensum wonder. Thanks to Cordelia plan to gain an advancement on Michael Langon. She tricks him to bring her fallen sister out of purgatory.
Which of course the antichrist is able to with ease. However, bringing Misty Day back could play against him in the future when the battle for humanity takes place. This inevitable war is alluded to by Cordelia when she confides that her plan of action to her sisters. Enlisting the help of Madison to fish around for clues on Michael. Their conversation is overheard by another warlock and unsurprisingly, the warlock wants answers for the uneasy feeling about the new Supreme. Cordelia orders Madison and the warlock to go to Murder House for answers. Fans have been waiting for the show to go back to the home that started the series. I cannot wait for the next episode, “Return to Murder House,” and the return of Jessica Lange to her role of Constance Langdon.
